Is TV Your Friend?

Your best friend?

If The Media told you to jump off a bridge, would you?

Come on and fercrissakes people - if you don't like someone why do you plunk yourself down in front of the TV and immerse yourself in the folderol?

Do you not have anything else to do?

Is there not one bird that can be fed, one dog that can be walked, one child that can be babysat, one old person in a nursing home that can be visited, one hand reached out to a lonely person? Can you not instead sit down and call that aunt, or uncle or mother? Can you not bake a loaf of bread, wash the car, create a painting or clean out a drawer? Are your clothes all laundered? Is your grass all mowed? Have you been to every art festival and neighborhood block party? Is there not one beautiful lake or mountain or stream or field or museum or church or neighborhood or garden or river or beach or meadow or interesting new road that you can walk, bike or drive to?

Can you not teach yourselves guitar? A new language or read a book? Or listen to a course on tape, or watch a new sport, or ask a young person to explain Facebook, or go buy some new walking shoes?

Do you have to watch funeral after funeral of people you hate and then spit your shit into words on a board so that you can take some weird fucking "high road" of indignation? Is that all you've got?

Did your mother ever ask you: "If x told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?" This is the same damn thing. Just because The Media puts someone's funereal celebration all over the airwaves does NOT mean you have to watch it!

Give it a fucking rest. Turn off your TV. Take a deep breath.

Tomorrow is Monday. Have a good week.

Mom.

  2. Hahaha! I was going to post this "elsewhere" but decided not to add more fuel to the (Kennedy) fire.

You're excused. I know you've been wandering around highways, byways and medians.
