Do you ever get to Cazenovia, NY? in the Finger Lakes of upstate NY. Its pretty with hills and forests surrounding the lakes that abound. I visited the town of Chittenago, the home of Frank Baum. Further south is the Chittango Falls draining Rippleton Creek of its water 167 feet high. The Gouge Trail is a good 2.5 mile run.
I am at peace here, enough so that my wife (in Michigan, says I belong here . . . the lace where my father's family hails. 180 inches of snow and the snow shooing is magnificent with a couple of dogs to keep you company.
I don't know that I've been to Cazenovia, but I have spent a little time in the Finger Lake district, and it is gorgeous! We have been very fortunate in that we've been able to spend the last few summers traveling around by car, and seeing some beautiful areas of the country. Slowing down, stopping to watch the rivers, sit under the trees, and sample local foods has been the true highlight of our forays.
The National Parks always provide a kind of benchmark or point-of-purpose. But surrounding them are delightful and unspoken treasures. I'm collecting all kinds of pictures, notes and memories. I'd like (one day) to write about them. Who knows?
I've been doing pretty well - getting the kids grown up, and figuring out what's next. Improving relationships with my parents, and doing some creative work. Also plenty of volunteer stuff in my various communities. Keeps me busy. It sure is great to see your delightful self!!
